We reinstated Sunday Cinema last night (Saturday - in many ways a better evening - rubbish telly and not a school night) and went to see Selma. It was very good - educational and thought provoking as I hadn't really considered the level to which Martin Luther King had to force Lyndon Johnson's hand. I could sort of sympathise with his view of 'I've changed the laws for you now I'll think about Vietnam' apart from the fact that changing the laws was totally and utterly ineffective. Still a long way to go to get true equality of course and still the need to change minds as well as laws. Anyway - we had nice food at The Arts Picturehouse afterwards (and they had a table free on a Saturday night let alone Valentine's - a miracle) and walked back past the e-luminate displays in town. So this is my first filler for at least 400 days but I may not get down to town after dark again this week so I've given in...
Lydia saw Selma & loved it ...she learnt a lot she said. Nothing on TV on Sunday...it's almost my favourite night if the week & now watching Indian Summers...looks promising! This is one beautifully photographed building....looks stunning with all those shadows & angles! Fave,
Have to agree with @happypat about Sunday night TV! We have to record it all and watch later.....Midwife, Selfridge, Top Gear, Indian Summers......mind you, would love an outing to the cinema too! Can't remember the last time I went! Love the light and dark patterns here...would it do for this week's tones theme?
@judithg Reading this again Judith I completely got the wrong end of the stick & misread you comments....I now realise you meant Saturday night is rubbish TV....how I agree with you there!! I am stupid sometimes!
Great shot of the e-luminated Senate House. I almost posted a pic of this today too, but decided two on that subject was enough. Well done on not using fillers for such a long time - I managed this during my first 17 months pretty much, but I don't keep it up now. We saw Selma on Friday - thought it was excellent and, as you say, a different angle to the usual Martin Luther King history.
Only time to look at the mo - once you get sucked back in, there is no escape!!! ; ))
