I had a look at our photo calendar this morning and noticed that there is currently a photo of the river with the willows in early leaf. Slightly surprised that I must have taken it in March I headed off in that direction with Monty after lunch. I could have done with a shorter walk really as I had a lot of work to do today but I wasn't disappointed - the willows have indeed burst in to leaf. I love them when they are like this. The area was heaving with school trips but I managed to dodge between them. Further down the path where the small drainage rivers feed the main one a huge rat-type creature emerged from the water and headed off across the bank. I'm hoping it may actually have been a water vole as it was the right colour and seemed to have a furry tale but if so it was a big one. Sadly my photo of it appears to be a photo of a branch :0(
What a great title! A wonderful Spring scene with the obligatory punters. Lucky you if it was a water vole, its hard to tell unless you get a chance to really study them.
The weeping willow, is there ever a lovelier tree near water....so graceful & in leaf before all others.....you waited until just the right moment too!
