Adam pushing off for the 3/4 playoff. Not the best photo I took but one I'm allowed to post. You can see how wet these pitches are - socks and trainers get soaked - better than full of sand like the old sand-based astros mind you. You would think that after a crushing defeat the boys might be dispirited but they played amazingly well. It was a really tight match, 2-2 at half time with our boys then dominating the second half. Despite that, with two minutes to go we were 3-2 down. On the 2 minute to go mark we evened up from a short corner only to concede one with 30 secs to go. It was played in 'over time' - a scenario which is notoriously difficult to defend for some reason and in the end they lost 5-4 to a mightily relieved opposition. As they had only lost on penalties in their semi-final our boys at least felt they were good enough to compete within the top 4 (if not with Repton who comfortably won the final). Very very exciting to watch, lots of parents proud at the resilience showed by their offspring and several of us very sad that our boys will be leaving this year (a lot of the team have another year of 6th form)....the end of an era.
End of an era indeed! Cool action shot. I always find the resiliency of good sports people quite amazing. As a supporter, I sulk for much longer than they apparently do! ;)
