I have been AWOL for quite some time and am going to have to work hard to backfill. We have just returned from a beautiful week on the Amalfi coast. It should have provided endless photo ops and it did but it was so hot that I just didn't want a camera strap round my neck and it wasn't easy to just wander - wandering in Amalfi, Positano or Ravello is, in fact mountain climbing. Plus I've been in a really uninspired phase I was finding it difficult to emerge from. Anyway on Monday Rachel volunteered to come with me to explore Amalfi (we'd been staying there 4 days and barely seen any of it!) and despite inadvertently climbing up to one of the highest points in the town in 35*C heat it was a wonderful walk. The tiny lanes and banks of steps have houses on both sides and it's a UNESCO heritage site so nothing can be changed. This man is actually living on a 'bridge' across the main street - the original photo has the top of Nigel's head in it underneath - he helpfully pretended to be posing for a photo!
I love this shot. Such wonderful local flavor. I can feel the heat and the heat inspired lethargy of the subject on his overpass balcony.
Also like your photo ruse of posing Nigel...clever. ☺

Great "day in the life" shot! Hope the heat didn't spoil your stay in what I think is one of the world's most beautiful places. I was there last year and hope to go back next spring.
