Totally by chance because I hadn't clocked that it's All Souls Day today I took a wander around the Ascension Burial Ground today which is reached along 'All Souls Lane'. Francis & Frances Cornford's grave has been tidied up and a new plaque placed behind with Frances's poem 'All Souls Night' engraved on it.
'My love came back to me
Under the November tree
Shelterless and dim.
He put his hand upon my shoulder,
He did not think me strange or older,
Nor I him.'
The sun came out as I walked back along the lane which was nice as I was listening to a podcast about ghosts in theatre-land and slightly spooked myself!
How could you listen to a podcast when younarecwalking in creepy places...you would never hear who was behind you!! It pretty well lives up to its name & I like that name for a lane near a grave yard. Lovely poem.
@happypat I had heard some of it in the car & it wasn't really spooky but then I got under the yew trees and started reading about hands on shoulders and had to check behind me!! Would have had a heart attack if somebody was there!
And a great shot!!!!
