This part of the river is known by rowers as 'the concrete wall' and when I used to Cox I was always glad to get past here. The house boats don't take kindly to being crashed in to at any time of day and especially not at 6am - after here the river starts to widen out a bit & crashes are less likely. Taken yesterday afternoon when we congratulating ourselves on missing the rain - no such joy today....
