Lupins by the Sea.. by julzmaioro

Lupins by the Sea..

Another shot from my time down at the beach the other day .. It's great to see that the lupins are coming back again as a few years ago there were very few on the beach ..
Dreamy colours, focus and dof.

I love lupins specially wild like this by the sea. I can’t grow them in the garden, they always seem to be plagued by greenfly!

Are lupins natural flora in NZ or introduced “weeds”?
In any case they make a nice photo.

@ethelperry No they were introduced to combat erosion on the sand dunes .. they were nearly wiped out a few years back with Lupin blight but they seem to have recovered from that .. the tall growing mixed colour lupins are being causing a bit of a problem on the river and lake beds in the South Island .. I hope they don't disappear before I get a chance to get down and get some photo's .. they are a huge tourist attraction this time of year..

Very pleasing solution to sand stabilisation. Thank you for explaining it.

Another super shallow dof image. How neat to have those growing on the beach - such a splash of colour.
