Banded Dotterel

Before we left Pauanui this afternoon we went for a walk along the beach.. we were surprised to see a number of Banded Dotterel as we thought they would have migrated to warmer climes..

I like your space round this little bird...I have seen the warning signs on beaches for nesting dotterel but never actually seen one, rather pretty she is too!
