As my cow giving birth seemed to give alot of interest yesterday I thought I would put up some more of the shots so that you can see with the time in the top left of each image how quick it all happened ... when I spied the cow out the window she just had the feet sticking out .. by the time I got my camera out and sorted she had pushed the front feet, head and shoulders through and then the rest just slid out ... 20 hours later and both Mother and Son are doing very well...
@lynnz@kiwichick This is a sight I take a little for granted but pleased I was able to share it with you all ... It is great when it all goes straight forward like this ... some times Farmer George has to give them a helping hand ... we had to have the Vet come a few years back and perform a ceaseran on one of our girls ... I was the Vets assistant and had to 'hold' things open for him .. we did get a live calf but the cow did not get in calf the following year..
Thanks, Julia, for showing this -- we city people never have such an opportunity to witness such a thing. I'm stunned by the last one -- just bonking its head on the ground, yet "doing very well" 20 hours later!
@jyokota though a bit freaky we have had a 3 leggered calf and also one born with an extra half a head ... that one did not survive but the 3 leggered one led a charmed life on a neighbours farmlet...
A FAV!
