A Trabi Brigade

The Trabant was made by East Germany for over 30 years and was known for being problematic and outdated. There are stories of these plastic Trabis being fixed on kitchen tables and with duct tape. Someone told me that the biggest impression of the news about the wall coming down was the memory of seeing abandoned Trabis everywhere. That, after the typically 15-year wait to get one! This image is of tourism Trabis all lined up to get gas.
Cool find!!!! Old, goofy Trabant pf past glories...

Great shot - I presume they were never decorated like this in socialist times!

I missed this! I think it's particularly effective to see the contrast of the first one in line with the others that have been decorated/painted to be far more inviting and less Eastern Bloc looking.

Wonderful. Have you seen the movie Goodbye Lenin. It is one of my fave films ever. I seem to recall that the brother and sister pretended to have a letter saying that they had been allocated a Trabi and how excited their mother was.
