Qantas, this time . . . by jyokota

Qantas, this time . . .

Once again, in the air so long that airplane photo is all I have for today. In fact, I landed two days after I left, so I have two days of airplane photos. (For those of you who know I smashed my camera in Japan last week, I managed to buy a new camera just before boarding the plane again, and I skimmed the instruction manual on the plane before trying it out on these photos . . . clearly, I need to learn more about how to use the camera!) Meanwhile, I present: oven, signage, stairwell, gate so you won't accidentally fall down the stairs, snacks you can freely choose (and an unintended selfie in the background of snack cabinet!), airplane movie, and a funny face. The plane was so big that economy section was divided into upstairs and downstairs . . . and I went up and down the stairs with my camera in hand.
I prefer Qantas

Junko, nice collage of airplane shots.
I lost count of your many trips....you make me feel dizzy. Where are you going to now?
BTW what kind of camera did you buy? It doesn't show in the data.

Great images--:)

@peterdegraaff -- It's a very good airlines with new equipment (compared to American's old fleet), friendly service and decent food!
@mara19500 -- These were taken on my way to Sydney from LAX. I bought a Canon 6D . . . it's the new small full frame that's not much bigger than the T3i I was using.
@jodimuli - thanks for your generous comment.. . . this is a "gotta get it done" collage of miscellaneous things to practice on in an airplane. And yes, people stare and must be wondering what in the world you are doing taking photos in a plane. Especially with a camera manual in your lap.

@jyokota and it is far more efficient getting through airport, than trying to get through or having to wait at airline terminals at LAX such as AA

Congrats on the new camera! Some nice shots here, great colors. I am very tempted by the 6D for the wireless, as well as the low light ability.

Great shots from the new camera! Looks like it's going to be a great one given these early shots. Is there much positive transfer? I finally got the 600 out today and used it for about 8 photos. I can't figure out how to manually change the focus points so it's holding me back! You'd think having two books and the manual, I could figure it out! On to youtube!
Have a great time there and in NZ.

@peterdegraaff -- I agree - and the best airline lounges, too!
@danielwsc @taffy -- thanks, but I was using that new camera as a point-and-shoot at this point. The low light ability is amazing, I can already tell. Nothing like having to learn a new camera without the old one to fall back on . . . bought an ebook that Taffy recommended. The other one isn't available until fall.

Nice collage Junko! I trust qantas too. Ever since Rainman. Although I tend to mix it up a bit depending on fare availability and cost.

Ahhhh...a 6D....I have a t3i and am debating between a 6D and a 70D! I do so many bird shots, I am told the crop sensor is better for that, but the full frame sounds so good too! You'll have to let us know how you like it.

@marie65 -- I agree, but I also follow "One World" loyalty for the miles . . . although I am sure that they are not really one world . . .
@lynnb -- I had the same debate, except that my t3i was smashed and I was forced to buy a new camera suddenly. I hadn't outgrown the t3i and considered simply replacing it but people recommended that going "up" so I could grow into that one would be better than merely replacing, for its newer possibilities. Given the fact that you still have a t3i in working order, I'd also recommend going to the 6D so you can keep your t3i for the cropped sensor. @taffy is keeping her zoom on her cropped sensor for the same reason you would -- for birds and other such faraway things. But don't trust my comment entirely because I still don't know how to use my new camera yet!

@jyokota Yes I was thinking that same thing...but there are many good features on the 70D (as announced) but it doesn't come out until September. I will do more research and visit more camera stores and ask more questions...I have time on my side.

Oh, I'm so pleased to hear you are back with camera in hand. I have no clue about other ones, and I keep reading about them, but I imagine your learning curve is going to be fast--you'll have a handle in NO TIME! As evidenced by this nifty collage already. :) Safe travels and enjoy reading your narratives in addition to the great photos.
