I saw this "shell" of a flower when out on a walk, and I recognized it for the beauty that I know hydrangeas are. I felt the fragility of life in this image, yet the permanence of the beauty I knew it represented. My friend, Eliza, is gone, but never to be forgotten.
Gorgeous, Junko. I love the white on white image, the soft tones, and the clear details in the focal line of petals. Makes for a very pleasing composition.
I want to say this is delicacy incarnate, but the word incarnate is too indelicate for it. :) I like the word lacy to apply to it. It's simply lovely. Fav.
I didn't know this photo was on popular page until Trish @pplutz told me . . . thank you all for your kind comments and favs. I wasn't ready to write about this yesterday when I took the photo and posted it, but my long-time friend, Eliza died yesterday. I saw this "shell" of a flower when out on a walk, and I recognized it for the beauty that hydrangeas are. I felt the fragility of life in this image, yet the permanence of the beauty I knew it represented. Life is fragile; friends are to be treasured, and beauty represented in friendships to be savored long after the physical presence of a friend is gone. Thank you for appreciating this image.
@jyokota So sorry to read this, Junko, but I'm glad your photo helped you to express some of the sadness you're feeling, and at the same time to hold your friend close through the beauty encapsulated in the image. I'm sure it meant a lot that so many others related positively to this shot.
This is so very beautiful, meaningful and heartfelt, Junko. Thank you so much for sharing. So sorry for the loss of your friend. Life is so very precious and fragile.
