The only explanation I have is that the flight attendant gave me a wet disposable cleaning cloth to clean the window, and it left a residue. But cooooool, huh? Maybe I will start traveling with different "flavors" of cleaning cloths to see if the effects are different for each type.
Super-cool lines on this one... lovely composition and POV. The sky looks other-wordly and better than the original. Really unusual shot and nicely done.
@agedrunner@graemestevens@dide@vickisfotos@khrunner@bella_ss -- thank you for your kind comments! It truly was amazing to see the image show up on my camera screen, and to wonder how I captured it! @rosiekerr -- this really was as "captured" in the original. I only bumped up the clarity a bit. Who knew that chemicals on a wet wipe applied on a plastic airplane window would produce such a screened effect? And @khawbecker -- isn't it funny how it DOES appear that I'm taking this from the nose of the plane? The plane turned a wide corner at this point, and I was sitting in the very front row so that part of the plane actually crossed the runway mid-line before turning. It was a split second, but I was ready! My daughter teases me saying that people must think I've never been on an airplane before when they see me with my camera glued to the airplane window. What a joke -- because I probably fly more than anyone else in this project! :)
It was excellent timing on your part and so cooperative of the pilot to take that wide turn before the take off. I do notice your peregrinations! I think you DO fly more than anyone else in the project. And we're all envious.
@khawbecker -- trust me, this particular trip was not enviable. I arrived in FL after dark, got to my hotel after 10pm, gave a breakfast speech, got in a plane and came home. I never even caught a glimpse of the ocean except in the dark landing. The plane had its tail turned to it when we took off.
That said, many of my peregrinations (thanks for the new vocabulary word!) are, indeed, delightful. Work may be the reason for the trip, but I try to make the most of my wanderings.
Junko -- I totally laughed when I saw this as I was photographing the runway in Charlevoix to get the yellow lines. Not nearly as interesting as your photo, though! Good catch, great timing. If you had your polarizing filter ion the lens, it would cause those weird colors that end up making it such a cool shot.
@joemuli -- taken in Florida! I was there for almost 12 hours -- landed after dark, left in the morning. No beach for me. @bella_ss -- thanks for the FAV! @taffy -- I just checked, and I DID have a polarizing filter on because I had been photographing autumn leaves in the bright sun at the Botanic Gardens. And all this time, I thought it was due to the film left by the cleaning wipe because I didn't get those colors when I photographed out the same window later, when the window was dry.
Awesome image!!! Actually I might fly as often as you since that's how I commute to work. I fly a minimum of twice a week with the only exception being weeks containing a national holiday. The catch is, I'm heading to/from the same place weekly anywhere from several months to a couple of years depending on the length of the contract.
