I took out my camera to take a photo, and I was immediately told to put it away -- and I hadn't even taken my big camera on this trip. Even with the gun-carrying military police on every corner, one of the people in our group was robbed -- her wallet taken by a fast-moving team of 5+ people. She knew it was happening but couldn't stop it. The police told her to file a report. I never took my camera out again while in Bogota except inside the museum.
OMG...that's both rather stunning to read and shocking as well! When our Panama cruise took us to Cartagena, I couldn't imagine why we would be wanting to go to Colombia as this is the sort of country I envisioned. How could two cities be so different?!! I feel SO SORRY for the person who had the wallet stolen...happened to me years ago in Chicago and it was devastating! Worst of all is that it robs you of your sense of security... Your photo makes for an excellent photojournalistic image and story!
Okay, I sometimes envy your travels but think I'll skip this place. Going to FLorida is all the unpleasant I can take. (Hope my sister doesn't see my post but then she knows I don't love Florida).
