Smoking, the "old way" by jyokota

Smoking, the "old way"

We had several opportunities to practice portrait photography. This fisherman was sitting in his kitchen, a very small and dark space, presenting challenges about the lighting but very patiently posing while we adjusted our cameras.

A portrait of him holding his pipe and pouch: http://365project.org/jyokota/challenges-and/2016-11-12
Taffy's image of him smiling while smoking: http://365project.org/taffy/365/2016-11-15

I like that this portrait appears as a candid, giving us the context for him setting up the fire for his pipe and lighting it.

What a classic image this is! I was going to say it looks like a children's book illustration, but, of course, why not?! I recall a book in my childhood called "The Story of Ping"... something like that... I suppose you might say I have residual memories of it!
