My friend told me about this place where there are 30 - 40 heron nests at the very top of trees in a wooded area only a mile from my house. In fact, it is steps from the. bike trail I have been riding up and down for years! I couldn't find a clear sightline but was able to focus (more or less) by shooting between branches.
@taffy Don't forget to wear boots/hiking shoes or something that allows you to step into water. Oh, and wear clothes with surfaces that you can see ticks on and not knit fabrics.
Super capture! How lucky that they are in range of your lens, We have some nesting herons in 50-foot high palm trees near us but because they're up so high, it's hard to get a clean shot.
