This is just a quick shutter speed comparison using an iPhone. On the left the shutter speed was 1 sec and on the right it was 1/60 sec. For the left photo I manually moved the candle while on the right I didn't move the candle. The background is a Christmas card we received. Not a true comparison of stop-action with a fast shutter speed but the results are similar.
