Cranberry Harvest by kannafoot

Cranberry Harvest

The cranberry, a small, red, acidic berry, is a major agricultural crop in several northern states in the US. It's also grown in most of the southern Canadian provinces. Today's photo shows a wet harvest at a bog in eastern Massachusetts. About 93% of the farms use a wet harvest method in which the bog is flooded and the berries shaken loose by the agitator seen here. The berries are then raked to one side and scooped out of the water. The downside to this method, however, is shelf-life. A dry harvest yields a firmer and longer lasting berry, but is not a common method due to the cost and limited harvest time. Berries from this farm are destined to become either cranberry juice or cranberry sauce depending upon the quality of the berry.

Post processing started with a simple pop filter in Topaz Adjust. I applied a slight adaptive exposure and contrast adjustment. In PSE, a levels adjustment was applied.
Love this cranberry harvest shot! Nicely done Ron.
