Yet another sign of spring has appeared. The swan boats are now deployed in Roger Williams Park in Providence. Boating on the interconnected lakes throughout the park dates back to 1901, although the original boats on the ponds were canoes and rowboats. By the early 1930s, over 150 rowboats were available for rent at the boathouse. I could not find a date listed where the rowboats were replaced by two-seat paddle boats, however I have memories of those paddle boats as a kid in the 1960s. The transition from flat "rowboat style" paddle boats to these swan-style paddle boats is even more recent. Again, I was not able to find a date for that transition, but I believe it to be within the past decade.
Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, boost black, boost white, highlights, and details. A levels adjustment and a sepia photo filter were added in PSE.
