Land Paddling

The popularity of skateboarding has been on the rise in Rhode Island, so it's not surprising that longboarding is also starting to see a resurgence. In today's photo, a longboarder is paddling downcity past the Providence River Walk. A casual glance at the longboard is enough to distinguish it from a traditional skateboard. Longer than a skateboard - this one looked to be in the 35 to 40-inch range - and sleeker, the longboard also has wider trucks and either softer bushings or even springs instead of bushings to improve cruising. The longboard makes an excellent long-distance board, especially when combined with a paddle as seen here.

Post processing started with a simple pop filter in Topaz Adjust. I also adjusted adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, and adaptive saturation. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.

Here's the high res version in Smugmug: http://kannafoot.smugmug.com/Photo-Challenges/PAD2013/i-rnJtg8k/0/XL/2013%2009%2016_0118%20copy-XL.jpg
