Centredale Store Front by kannafoot

Centredale Store Front

I typically go for a moderate walk in the four-mile range in the morning. Rounding the corner from the Centredale Bypass onto Smith Street, I spotted this large for-rent sign in front of a frequently vacant store front and my very first thought was that "I could do something with this scene." It intrigued me since it was really the challenge of telling an interesting story where none was readily apparent. The set of dumbbells in the foreground piqued my interest as well. They seem remarkably out of place for this location, and they are a primary reason I choose to photograph the storefront from this angle. Anyway, it seemed and interesting study, and thought it would make a fun subject for today's photo.

Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, boost white, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment and a sepia photo filter were added in PSE.

Here's the high res version in Smugmug: http://kannafoot.smugmug.com/Photo-Challenges/PAD2013/i-jNXVjf4/0/XL/2013%2010%2013_0004%20copy-XL.jpg
