Pick Up the Pace

The weather was very nice for a January morning. There was a light breeze, but the temperature rose to a comfortable 50 degrees (10 C.) That's really not bad at all for mid-winter in New England. For today's photo, I decided to stop at India Point Park. I expected there to be more than a few people out enjoying the January thaw. Surprisingly, I had the entire park to myself. I wandered along the shoreline for about twenty minutes before I saw this young runner heading towards me. When she saw me composing the photo, she started to angle herself to pass behind me, but she quickly moved back into position when I waved her over. Of course, once she realized that she was the subject of the photo, her running form improved and she picked up the pace considerably.
Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, protect highlights, and boost black. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
You an hardly tell this was taken on a January morning! Where's your snow??? Nothing like knowing you are being photographed to improve your form and pace.
@jyokota Our snow didn't last long! The temperature rose on Saturday, and that resulted in dense fog and a light rain. The combination took care of the snow. Interestingly, a January thaw is very common. It's February that brings the heavy snow in Rhode Island.
Ah, I see . . . when I lived in Iowa, you never saw your backyard between November and March but here in Illinois, it does thaw out in between big snows. Ours was a big enough snow the last couple of weeks that there's still quite a bit around, although much has melted.
As always, great composition and processing.
Ron, also a lovely compostition and capture. Love it!
Do you normally get much snow? Hmmm, 7 C is 44 F. That would be pretty comfortable here this time of year!
