I've never found a good explanation for the many wooden pilings that line the shore at India Point Park. This area was once a major scrap yard and ships not unlike the large freighter in the background would dock here, collecting the metal scrap and shipping it overseas. The most plausible explanation I've heard is that the wooden beams are the remains of the docks that lined the Point during that era when the major port facilities extended this far west.

Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, and boost black. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.

Here's the high res version in Smugmug: http://kannafoot.smugmug.com/Photo-Challenges/PAD2014/i-pTvvTTX/0/XL/2014%2003%2005_0003%20copy-XL.jpg
