Bench By the Canal

It was a long shot, but I decided to visit a section of the Blackstone River Bikeway in Lincoln to see if there was anything interesting going on. There was still snow and ice on the path, though, so there weren't any cyclists to be found. I did like this scene, though, of a park bench along the canal. The icy water in the background is the historic canal itself, and not the Blackstone River that people normally (incorrectly) identify as the canal. In this section, the bike path follows the old mule path that was used to pull barges from Providence to Worcester.

Post processing started with a low contrast filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, boost white, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment and a selective dodge were added in PSE.

Here's the high res version in Smugmug: http://kannafoot.smugmug.com/Photo-Challenges/PAD2014/i-x89w5RF/0/XL/2014%2003%2018_0001%202%20copy-XL.jpg
You have still ice? God, poor you!
But cool shot. I like the empty trees in the background especially :)

@justaspark Winter won't leave, Jule! It was 16°F (-9°C) today. I'm waiting for whoever kidnapped Spring to deliver a ransom note.

The gray sky and the dead trees makes this look so much colder than it already is! I feel for you...

@sierranicole423 Thanks, Sierra. I don't know why, but I find bare trees to be very photogenic. lol
