Pondside Memorial
31 March 2014 -- 90/365
East Providence, Rhode Island
The weather was miserable today with intermittent rain, cold temperatures, and a biting wind. It was the perfect day to photograph this memorial on the side of Willett Pond in East Providence. I've tried to find some details around the death of the Russell Cram mentioned on the plaque, but so far I've found nothing. He was a student at Riverside Junior High in the early 1990s, and it's safe to assume that he drowned in this pond. There's nothing to be found online, however, so there's nothing I can post about the details. The memorial itself was recently replaced. I photographed the plaque several years ago, and at the time the board was decayed, the plaque rusted, and there was graffiti on much of the post. Sometime this winter it was replaced with the new board and plaque you see here.
Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
