Posing Chipmunk

Let me state up front that this little rodent cost me the photo I planned to take. It's only fitting, therefore, that his image be plastered across the Internet. You see, I was cutting through Lincoln Woods State Park on my way to the site of the old Lonsdale Drive-in. While passing the beach area, though, I spotted a fly-fisherman in full rain-gear - yes, it was raining - waist deep in the pond. He looked miserable, and that quickly became the subject for today. I parked in the lot near the beach, attached my 70-200mm lens and followed the trail down towards a good location from which to photograph him. That's when this striped rodent crossed the trail, hopped up on a rock, and stared at me. Not wanting to pass up a photo that would be good for its cuteness factor, I stopped and took about a half-dozen shots before the critter finally decided I wasn't going to feed him and he scampered off into the woods. I continued on down the path and, upon arriving at the beach, I noticed that the fisherman was nowhere to be found. Where he went is beyond me. There's only one path back to the parking area and I was on it. He wasn't on the beach, he wasn't in the water, and he hadn't walked back to his car. I'll have to poke around for sightings of an Olney Pond Sea Serpent since that's about the only other explanation I can fathom. In any case, you're stuck with this photo of the evil chipmunk that cost me a photo.
Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, boost white, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
Aw, now that is one adorable little cutey pa tootie of evil! Looks like he has his photo on here for good, the photo thief! Guess the fisherman will have to wait for another day, unless this fellow pops up again? :)
