Gondolier in Providence

Gondolier in Providence

Walking along the waterfront in Providence this morning I spotted this gondolier poling his way against the tide up the Providence River. I got into position with this bridge and part of the Providence skyline in the background and waited for him to pole into view. And waited. And waited. It took him almost 20 minutes to reach this spot, so either he was getting paid by the minute or he didn't spend enough time in the gym this winter!

Now, for those that also follow my project on Facebook, you'll notice that neither photo from this weekend has made its way onto my wall. In fact, nothing is. Starting yesterday morning, I've been receiving an error anytime I attempt to update my status, like a post, or comment on a post. I've filed a slew of bug reports, but unfortunately Facebook doesn't have any way to actually open a problem case with them. No phone support, no e-mail support, nothing. I guess that would cut into Zuckerberg's profits. Anyway, if they ever realize there's a problem and then actually fix it, I'll catch up on the posts there. Until then, you won't see these photos on Facebook.

Post processing started with a neutral greyscale filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.

I've always wanted to go for a ride on one of these gondola's! I've heard they're quite the romantic ride, haha! Such a lovely capture and kudos to your patience! Well paid off for this lovely capture!
Now, how about I trade you a couple violet crumbles for a ride on one of these? ;)

@lilminimonka Hmmm, chocolate for a gondola ride. Well, I can always be bribed with chocolate! lol (It's true... Every now and then I'll show up at work and there will be a chocolate covered lemon donut (from Dunkin Donuts) on my desk and I'll know there's a project manager that needs something from me. lol)
