This flower grows wild on our farm. The information below is from a wildflower site,
This unusual flower is widely distributed in the Southeast, especially from Florida to Texas. The plants were given the name Passion flower or Passion vine because the floral parts were once said to represent aspects of the Christian crucifixion story, sometimes referred to as the Passion. The 10 petal-like parts represent Jesuss disciples, excluding Peter and Judas; the 5 stamens the wounds Jesus received; the knob-like stigmas the nails; the fringe the crown of thorns
WOW! This is amazing. I have never seen a flower like this before. It almost doesn't look real! Really fabulous capture of it!!! Very interesting story with it. Thanks for sharing it.
Awesome capture! I have often wondered why they call it Passion flower - I would never have guessed it was to commemorate the Passion of Jesus.
Thank you for the explanation!
A FAV to remember His Passion.
