The photo on the left was taken this morning. The light was so beautiful bringing out the Fall colors in the trees. I went on my morning walk with four dogs. Everything was great. But we never know what a day will bring. I knew Jessica was ill, but she had been doing so well. To my great sadness we lost her today.
When I bought her she was a well trained sheep herder. I knew nothing about sheep and she was patient with me while I learned. All she ever wanted to do was to be with me and herd sheep. As I was looking for photos of her I realized there were not many because she was always too close to me to get a good photo. She will be greatly missed.
I know you must be heartbroken... God blessed Jessica by entrusting her to you... she lived a wonderful life with you, doing what she loved. So sad for your loss. I had posted a photo of Jessica earlier in my project.
So sorry for you loss of Jessica. She was beauty! How lucky you both were to have each other! This is lovely shot of her and so nice to see her play ground. Hugs!
What a beautiful dog. So sorry to hear she is no longer with you, what a sad day for you. She sounds like a wonderful , talented dog and she must have brought you much joy teaching you the ropes of shepherding. Sweet memories of Jessica.
Oh, I'm so sorry!
What a beautiful beginning to the day, and what a sad way for it to end.
How lucky you were to have a smart, loving dog, with the patience to train you regarding sheep.
It is heartbreaking to lose a pet, but we need to find comfort in knowing that we gave them a loving home.
The day will come when you will be able to think of her and smile rather cry.
@mariasdz Thank you Maria, Jessica was 12 years old too. I know you can appreciate that even though she did not feel well she always wanted to go to the barn and work. Good lesson for me.
@pasadenarose Thanks so much for your thoughts. It is amazing how these little dogs get into our hearts. She taught me many lessons. I really appreciate your thoughts!
My heart goes out to you, Kathy. They tie their souls so tightly to ours that when they leave, a part of us is lost forever. I'm glad she had a wonderful life with you.
So sorry that you lost Jessica. Border collies are so special.
Your photo is gorgeous and the tribute really touching
Don't know what I would do if I ever lost Shadow!
My best to you and your family.
