Star Trails

I have always wanted to take a photo of Star Trails.
In Utah we hired a local photographer to teach us how. He took us to an abandoned church late at night. After setting up the cameras, one shot was taken with a flashlight being shown through the window of the church. Forty photos were taken each 30 seconds long then put together using starstaX software.
How cool!!! I love it! Good for you! FAV

This is so neat - really like reading about the process, too. What a perfect setting for this.

Brilliant Kathy. And thanks for sharing the technique What were the settings for the 40 photos that were taken

@terryliv Thanks Poppo, I used my wide angle lens set at 16mm F2.8. Camera set on manual and manual focus. The ISO was set at 6400. When I try this again I will use a lower ISO and feel the pictures would improve.
Each capture was 30 seconds. The camera was set to take the photos automatically. Another tip is to have a flashlight or headlamp to see your camera settings in the dark. Many of the photos had planes flying through them so i had to edit them out before blending them together.
