Mary was attacked and had her leg injured a few months ago. I was taking her to the vet to treat the injury. On one visit to the doctor she escaped from my arms, fell to the ground and broke her leg. Since then with the help of the young man in the photo I have been changing her dressing and splinting her broken leg with popsicle sticks. This was going to be necessary for the rest of her life.
Then I met Dr Marc Aiken an Orthopedic surgeon who just happens to love animals and said he will help. He visited our farm examined her, then we took her to obtained x-rays of her legs. Dr. Aiken is going to make a plan and try to reconnect her bones with plates in a couple of weeks.
Also Mary was calm the entire time. She seems to know we are trying to help her. Below is a photo of her when she was healthier.
Thank you for the link of her healthier days - she was (and still is) a beautiful bird.
