I stopped on the way home from church today (Sunday, March 22) to take a couple of pictures of Salt Creek. This is at Graue Mill where I got a picture of a beautiful maple tree last fall.
The mill is a working gristmill that opened in 1852 and operated for 70 years. It was also a stop on the Underground Railroad and President Lincoln is believed to have visited the mill during a trip between Springfield and Chicago. It fell into disrepair, but in 1950 a group of local residents expressed interest in restoring it as a historic site. It's now open for tours, and you can buy corn meal that's been ground on the mill.
September 2015 - I dropped my Nikon L22 at the arboretum (on asphalt!) and it's definitely broken. :(
October 2014- finally reached 365 photographs and it...
Beautiful shot . Love to see the mill to. with a great history
