Sharp Lines and Silhouettes

Shadows play across the room
As I watch the light evade
The blinds intrude upon this space
I see the darkness that they made

The simple things in life, I know
Are never as they seem
The pull of yesterday, it's true
Will often interrupt this dream

And when the darkness finally falls
It falls the same on everyone
But it never seemed this dark
In the days when we were young

I wonder what the shadows hide
I'm sure it's nothing, still, and yet
I wonder what tomorrow brings
But sharp lines and silhouettes
