Daily Prayer I

Walking from work through the alley and across the dark, busy street I got to the parking lot as three kids were running through.

One of them slipped on an embankment and fell flat on his back.

I caught myself from running to him, because he got up, laughing.

I picked up my bag that I had tossed aside, and got in my car.

I am so very glad that this instinct still exists. I pray it never changes.

And, so, my prayer for the day.
