Into the Light, Fred by kevin365

Into the Light, Fred

Charity ice golf event today in honor of son's best friend who died too soon at the age of nine in 2005.
A year older than my son, Jack, I listened one night years ago at his bedroom door when Fred was sleeping over. Fred asked Jack "Jack, are you afraid of the dark?" After a pause, Jack said "I'm not afraid of the dark, I'm afraid of the things in the dark."
Fred no longer needs to fear the dark. He has walked into the Light.

@lifepause Absolutely appropriate choice of words there in closure, Jae! Kevin, I'm so sorry to hear your son lost a best friend at a young age when we adults can't wrap our heads around such tragedy. I ache for his parents who've moved forward to make an event that's life affirming, but again as Jae noted, forever impacted. Nothing "old" about this post, Kevin...it's loving and positive and fully endearing. Thank you for bringing Fred into my thoughts today.
