We want to do the same. Now we have both girls thinking about moving back next year. We are hoping to buy and keep this, but prices are so high at the moment. Good luck with all the processes, do you know where you want to go?

An image with a story! Buying or selling property is really stressful. My brother and I have been selling the bungalow where our mother lived before she died, and both of us will be glad when the process is over. It seems to take forever.
@sugarmuser It is such a huge decision. I really wanted to stay in the exact same area as my place is in a perfect position plus the grandkids live in the same suburb but even though prices are a bit more reasonable the area is turning into high rise. I have seen a few places a few suburbs over that are more expensive but quite nice, I'm after a villa and they are also few and far between. This whole selling/buying thing is so daunting especially on your own
@carole_sandford I have been thinking about doing this for a few years but it's so daunting I keep putting it off but being on my own I really don't need this big house and huge garden any more.
@kjarn fingers crossed you sell high and buy low. We are struggling to find a nice apartment at the moment. People here can’t even find rentals. They purchase the good ones before they get advertised.
Our goal is to move out of this area in 4 years. I wish we could do it sooner as so many are moving in and cutting down all the trees. It's a mad rush from NYC but we're not in the position to sell right now. I hope your plans go smoothly and the transition is an easy one. You're right- it's daunting!
Just catching up after my absence. I have been doing a lot of clearing out here over the last couple of years during lockdown and renovations etc, but not so sure we would be able to downsize yet. Hope all goes well.
