Jules there is a very low calorie value in eucalyptus leaves. They have to eat a large amount of them every day and they are pretty tough, mostly just lots of fibre and not much else. They have this huge caecum (our appendix) - it is around 2 metres (YEP!) long and filled with billions of bacteria that do most of the digesting. So they eat a big lot of cruddy fibrous leaves, then basically sleep for many hours to allow digestion to happen. wild hey!
