FoR leading lines challenge.
Previously on WtL I woke before dark to hear a koala screaming. At sunrise Maxine was seen out on a limb, and Jordan basking in the golden glow of sunrise in a nearby tree ...
I snapped a few pictures of Jordan, thinking I had the whole story. I turned back to the tree Maxine had vacated mulling over the few pieces I had. There was this moment of mutual shock as I found myself literally eye-to-eye with Bullet, hanging on the side of the tree trunk. I swear he had not been there moments before.
We played a game of "if I don't move you can't see me", both of us held in suspended animation, only the video rolling. (yes WtL the movie will hit box offices shortly!)
I came to my senses and moved away from the tree and he proceeded to climb the tree, smelling every inch of bark on the way.
Koalas communicate almost purely by smell, and he was reading an intricate story that I had no hope of deciphering in detail. If only I had a big black honker of a nose! If only he could tell me all the gossip he was reading!
He spent around 45 minutes, going over as much of the upper tree as possible. I retreated to the kitchen to make coffee and was able to keep half an eye on him ....
Stay tuned for the next exciting episode!
3 koala stars, now in 3 separate trees.
What did he smell?
Who made Maxine cry out in the dark?
@kklinck no they are not dangerous at all. If you attempt to pick one up they will bite and scratch and can do a lot of damage!
I actually took this photo around 20 metres back from the tree and he is about 20 up in the tree too - when the movie is released at the end of the week you will see me zoom the video back out and the distance becomes apparent.
They are incredibly fascinating creatures, you are so right there :)
