a delicate nose pattern

Now nose patterns are individual, it's not that the girls normally have delicate patterns but the 2 tiny dots above the nasal openings is my way of always knowing without doubt I've identified the princess Maxine :) thank you for the awesome comments and questions on my photos. I'm having internet issues here the past 24 hours and it took an hour to upload this photo! apologies if I have problems commenting today

Such a cute nose - - does anyone else use this system of identification beside you ? it seems to be fool-proof !

Such a pretty girl - what do you call male and female koalas?
May 22nd, 2019
@fbailey it's a funny one really - scientists use 'buck' and 'doe' but vets and those of us that work with them call them 'males' and 'females' - I think we need something better hahahaha kings and queens would work for me

@koalagardens Thanks for your reply - fascinating! I've just Googled male and female bears and they're called boars and sows - def not fitting for koalas!

Beautiful close up of your princess.

@fbailey um definitely not, especially considering koalas are not bears and we work so hard to keep any reference to bear separate from them :) classifying things gets so complex!

I like the idea of prince and princess 😁.

@susiemc well yes, it leaves room for them to go onwards rather than all being kings and queens hahaha

@beryl I nearly missed your question! yes, I was shown this method by other ecologists working with koalas so it's a good method :)
