I was waiting for the night pharmacy at Port Vendres to open last night and took this photo with my phone. It's not a great photo in itself, but I'm relativly new to phone photography and I am still astounded at what modern phone cameras can do. This photo looks like twilight but that wasn't the case, the night was completely dark and with no moonlight. The data says the camera was at ISO 1000 and 1/9 second.
In "Master & Commander", the book but not the film, Capt.Aubrey attacks Port Vendres in HMS Lively, sailing right into the harbor. That story was based on a real incident during the Napoleonic wars when the port was attacked by a notorious Scottish commander, Lord Thomas Cochrane. The author of the Aubrey books, Patrick O'Brian, lived most of his life in the next port north, Collioure.
@bob65 It's on my to do list but need to clear the decks to make some time. I use the NIK programs on the PC and Snapseed was from the same developers.
@laroque I've not used it in anger, but plan to use it on my Chromebook when on my next long trip in the campervan. I can recommend "Smart phone smart photo editing" by Jo Bradford
Lovely capture and interesting information. I note Bob's comment on the snapseed app - it is good. I use it for making 'birthday photos' for friends and family. It's very easy for editing, framing and adding text.
I really like the various rows of lights here.
