My dear friend and next-door neighbor bought us both live Christmas trees. In order to get ready to plant them I dug the holes just after Thanksgiving before the ground froze, filled plastic bags with leaves put those in the hole to insulate the ground then placed plywood over the hole. Kept the soil in buckets placed the garage so it would not freeze. Today it was around 30° when I planted the trees. Hopefully they will grow and add shade and beauty to the yard.
