My theme for today was water and so decided to try some water drop shots. Although fun to try, there were certainly some challenges and I would need to practice more to get the results I really wanted. If I try this again I would try and figure out how to make a bigger splash (maybe put the water higher???) But I’m glad I tried.
My set up sort of looked funny and included the following:
- my camera (obviously!), flash, tripod, and 50mm lens
- my bedroom lamp
- the blue t-shirt from my before and after picture last month
- a metal barbeque skewer
- a shallow glass baking pan
- two food boxes from my kitchen pantry
- a ziplock bag
- and hospital tape
The set up did look pretty ridiculous but it’s all I could think to use, not sure how other people set theirs up. I may experiment again in the future.
Looks like you got it just as the droplet hit the water. You might want to try burst mode, or continuous shutter it might be called. As long as you hold the shutter button down, you camera will continue to take shots. Less timing involved.
lauren you did so well!!!! it turned out awesome and i love the blue colored shirt you chose to use!!! i laughed when i read your list of materials, thats really cute.
Hey Lauren you will never accomplish what you want unless you try. Good job and keep it up. We have had a busy but good week. Hope things are well with you
* thanks everyone for the feedback/comments on this. @webfoot thanks for the suggestion, i had tried that but was using an external flash that doesnt recycle fast enough. i think the external flash wasn't necessary, so will try burst mode with regular flash next time.
