@taffy I added some dawn dishwashing detergent , water and corn syrup to cheap store bought bubbles. I have also found that if you use a straw to blow the bubbles on the surface that you want to photograph them on works a lot better than blowing in the air and you have a more success with the bubble not popping.
so methinks it works better closer to the ground. i have to carefully place the bubble on my balcony railing and it takes a while to get one staying still and not pop off right away. even though it was -15 this morning, it still didn't freeze right away. what is the ratio of your ingredients or is there a consistency that i have to aim at? i like your perfect bubble, but i'm afraid if i use a straw the thing just might go straight in my throat and i would gag for sure. aces on this!
@summerfield I didn't use a real ratio for ingredients ( just eye balled it). The web has a few recipes if you goggle frozen bubbles. I use a glass patio end table on my front porch so I only have to sit on the cement porch to get pictures and blow bubbles plus it helps out with the wind. Last try I was able to get snow from the yard and put it on table, this time I shaved ice with my margaritaville blender and put it on the table. DO NOT BREATH IN while using the straw .LOL Just drip the straw like you would dip the wand.
@lesip I did this today from our balcony, and did get a few (will post one eventually tonight), but they didn't ever freeze. From your experience, is it that the temperature has to be much below freezing to work? Today it was snowing so I thought it would be cold enough.
@taffy just a guess but I would say the temps need to be in the low teens to start freezing. Colder the better . Sorry they didn't freeze today but now you will be all set.
@lesip Oh -- that makes total sense! It was in the low 30s and high 20s. And it turns out I think our balcony is too windy, even on a non-windy day. Good first try, though.
