Peat Stack

Still a relatively common sight on the Island although perhaps not as much as it was when I first came to the Island nearly 40 years ago. This stack however is for decorative purposes situated at the Hoswick Visitor Centre.

Interesting ! They harvested peat in the northeast of the Netherlands for centuries, never seen them stacked up like this 👍
