Grutness Cairn by lifeat60degrees

Grutness Cairn

A bitterly cold day but if you wear enough layers the "feels like" temperature of - 4°c it's not too bad.

Looking beyond the cairn there are a number of headlands visible finishing up with the Island of Noss which will be approximately 25 miles north.
Interesting shot, it looks chilly. I love the wrought sea.

Great capture of the waves and stone. I had to laugh though - the “feels like” temperature here today is -21C. I would give a lot for -4 right now!

Your picture makes me think of the people who built the cairn. They probably looked at exactly the same wilderness scene many centuries ago.

@etienne yes I have those thoughts a lot about what local people must have seen and thought from years ago.

@ljmanning I can imagine. We rarely get a minus feels like temperature even though we are probably much further north than yourself. I have a friend who visits his sister in Medicine Hat quite regularly in the winter and he’s says that although it is very cold it has a drier feel to it than our “really” cold days.
