Waxwing by lifeat60degrees

Waxwing

I seem to have been one of the few people in Shetland this October / November not to have seen a lot of Waxwing. Today was only my second sighting and with only a full frame camera and 250mm lens with me it came down to a heavily cropped photo for this shot.
I have rarely seen these birds around us, although I do know that they pass through. This is a lovely shot.

I’ve seen these occasionally but usually near dusk, when I have never managed to capture a good shot of them. Love those striking markings on this one.

Wow! What's really extraordinary is that it's a Bohemian Waxwing. I've seen plenty of Cedar Waxwings where I live, but have never had any luck spotting a Bohemian since they tend to travel more randomly than predicatively. Great picture.

@stephomy Ceder is very rare here with less than 10 ever in U.K. Bohemian is quite rare in Shetland and there can be years when there are none spotted.
