Made In The Shade

I was taking a lunchtime walk today, at one of the local parks, and came across this bird. On a hot and humid day, he (she?) was smart enough to hang out in the shade.

I believe this is a Great Blue Heron, but I'm no expert on birds.

It is certainly a heron. You were fortunate to get so close - they usually fly off very quickly.
