A few miles to the west of us, this valley opens up to the mountains. The fertile lowlands, the foot hills and the mountains are separated by belts of trees. It is so beautiful and the best I've seen it this year!
This is in North Otago which is in the South Island of NZ! About 1/2way down.

Beautiful scene and landscape shot! The snow looks chilly, but beautiful. I will try to remember seeing your snow tomorrow, because we are supposed to have triple digit heat.
Just gorgeous ....love the layers of trees and land. And the lighting and shadows are beautiful. As are the mountains and the snow. Gorgeous country ... lovely and soothing sight!
Snow at it's best Maggiemae!!! So beautiful, that blue sky, then the snow & shadows & a lovely layer of green & trees...stunning! My daughter in law says they have had shorts & tee shirt weather in North Island yesterday, better weather than us! I noticed the considerable difference in the temperature between the islands when I came south one year.

@maggiemae - Well, that's one of the nice things about this site. We learn about other people and other places. Isn't it nice that we can "talk" to each other like we're right next door, even though we're a zillion miles away?
