Our Town Aquatic Centre as they call it! Its a lovely building and great for the town. I did a few lazy lengths here this morning then sat in the spa and contemplated a morning tea of a chocolate biscuit!
The 1929 Jessie Todd Trip continues;
In Newcastle on Tyne Mum and her sister visited the Exhibition and I have found a photo of the outside of it. Not much detail on research but she said she was fascinated by the demonstrations. Shoe making, flapjack making, model making etc. Then on to the "Carter Bar" I had to verify these words were correct - hills into Scotland. She was so happy to be in "Bonny Scotland" and ended up in Edinburgh after visiting Sir Walter Scott territory and a few verses from him were written. I got carried away with the research and loved reading his words. Ediburgh castle was thoroughly explored and a bit of history was disclosed about Queen Mary, mother of James VI who was born there, let down a 200ft wall and taken to Stirling Castle to be christened in the Roman Catholic faith - all to avoid John Knox!
Wish I could swim confidently... I put in a lot of effort and hardly seem to move through the water.... I'm more tempted with the chocolate biscuit afterwards! Nice photo of your pool, its in a picturesque setting!
What a nice shot, Maggiemae. Love where your pool is located. We have ours at health clubs. How wonderful that you swim, I have never learned how. Sounds like a wonderful morning. Your Mom sure did travel a lot and saw so much at her age. How interesting for you to learn so much about the areas she traveled and the people who were alive at that time.
Fascinating words from your mom's journal. Do you know much about your ancestry?
