First Practice by maggiemae

First Practice

The Wellington Ukelele Orchestra is playing in this Opera House in Oamaru on Sunday night. Prior to this is a ukefest where many groups come together and sing and various will play their own songs. There are two groups coming from different towns but we are expecting quite a number of school groups to attend as well.

This was our first practice on the steps!
wish we could hear them

@lyno The main event for the groups is at 5 on Sunday night! I'm going to get John to take a video of some! It's a happy thing to do - sing!

That is so cool! My grandmother was part of a ukelele orchestra in high school. She also gave lessons. I have a picture of her giving a lesson to someone on the roof of an apartment building! I would love to hear your group- I'll look forward to the video.

Beautiful shot and lighting. It would have lovely to zoom in on the woman holding the child on the left side of the shot.

@hudamor Yes, I saw that Huda - I think it was a very young child from the school that was here - He was sound asleep but thinking about it, not really natural! However, they all got up and left!

What a great festival that will be. It's amazing the sounds that can come from those 4 little strings. Nice shot, Maggiemae. It's interesting to me how many things New Zealand and Hawaii share, like great ukelele music.
